Centenary House in collaboration with Rhodes SRC and GRASS will on Sunday, 10 May 2009 hold a Beach Clean-up Project in Port Alfred.
We as other stakeholders of our Grahamstown community hold and share the idea that environmental unawareness by students and the community leads to irresponsible behaviour on our lovely coastal lines. We have seen, observed and learnt the effects of pollution such as medical waste, plastics, cigarette buds etc. can do to our tourism industry as a whole. It is in this respect that we wish to take a commitment to task ourselves and the larger community to embark on a clean-up campaign.
Upon having discussions with Mathew Mphathwa concerning our Beach Clean-up Project he had recommended that we extend our media invite to your newsroom. We here by therefore kindly invite you to join us on our journey to Port Alfred for our Beach Clean-up.
Transport is available from Biko Student Union to Port Alfred. Private cars are welcome. Refreshments will be served.
